The law firm “Zhakenov & Partners”

“Zhakenov & Partners” (“Z&P”), established in 1991, was one of the first private law firms in Kazakhstan. “Z&P” was formed as a partnership of Kazakhstani lawyers to render legal services to both foreign and Kazakhstani clients working in Kazakhstan.

In April 2000 “Z&P” merged with an American legal practice headed by Alexander Lesser, forming the law firm of “Lesser”, “Zhakenov & Newton”. In 2002, upon the departure of Aleander Lesser, “Z&P” formed a partnership with the international law firm “White & Jones LLP” and became affiliated with “Rosehill Consulting Limited”. In 2006 “White & Jones LLP” merged with “Grundberg Mocatta Rakison LLP” (London, UK), thus leading to an association between “Z&P” and “Grundberg Mocatta Rakison LLP”. These relationships have enabled us to provide the broad range of legal and professional services that our clients deserve and require.

Through our extensive experience and our involvement in “Grundberg Mocatta Rakison LLP” and early in “White & Jones LLP”, we are also able to provide our clients with a uniquely integrated professional service focusing on the needs and issues of our clients, which may include legal project assistance in Russia and in other CIS countries as well as in Western countries. “Z&P” has particular experience in such spheres as stock floatation in the Western financial markets, international direct investment and cross border disputes.
